Researchers complain of cutting the folder of Science
The 22% cut in the budget of the Ministry of Ciêcia, Technology and Innovation for 2012, announced on Wednesday by the Ministry of Finance, reflected in academic corridors.
The SBPC (Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science), chief representative of the scientists of the country, dismissed as "absurd" the reduction in investment in the sector.
"Reflections on the national scientific production will be felt," said Leaf president of the institution, Helena Nader.
She said she sent a letter to President Rousseff exactly one week before the announcement of cuts claims that science and education would be spared. "These cuts are against this speech, which has a commitment to social development," said Nader.
The budget for the MCTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation) in 2012 is $ 5.2 billion. The value is $ 1.48 billion less than last year, when science was the slice of $ 6.7 billion.
In 2011, the portfolio of science had already suffered a cut of 23% of resources.
LESS INNOVATION
Anpei (National Association for Research and Development of Innovative Enterprises) said in a statement that the cuts in investment may worsen negative balances Brazilian trade balance.
This is because the reduction in investment may affect the competitiveness of companies doing research and innovation.
In 2011, the term "innovation" was included in the name of the MCTI.
"We increased the range of ministry activities, including innovation, and shrinking resources. This makes no sense, "says Nader.
